CIEP manages $8 billion in assets across two funds and co-investments, encompassing thirteen portfolio companies in the global energy value chain. The team is currently investing the CIEP II fund, which raised $2.3 billion with $1.5 billion of dry powder remaining.CIEP team has a proven track record of executing complex corporate carve-outs and structuring partnerships with financial and strategic investors. Position SummaryThe Carlyle Group is seeking an experienced Vice President to join our Carlyle International Energy Partners team in London. The successful candidate will focus on sourcing, executing, and managing portfolio companies, with specific emphasis on the international energy sector.ResponsibilitiesDeal Evaluation:
- Lead evaluation and execution of potential transactions.
- Conduct commercial and financial due diligence.
- Manage due diligence processes and prepare recommendations.
- Negotiate transaction agreements and financing documents.
Deal Generation:
- Participate in origination efforts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with peers at corporate finance firms.
- Build a network of industry contacts in the global energy value chain.
- Maintain the deal pipeline.
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor and enhance portfolio value.
- Participate on the Board of Directors of portfolio companies.
- Work with management teams on performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist with monthly reporting to investors and exiting investments.
QualificationsEducation & Certificates:
- Strong academic record with an undergraduate degree from a leading academic institution.
- Master’s degree is valued but not required.
Professional Experience:
- 6-9+ years of experience, including in a “real assets” team with a leading investment bank (e.g., Energy, Power, Renewables, Industrials), consultant, or alternative investment manager.
